Chapter Two: Not a Day over 21

Today is my 51st birthday, but I still look as if I'm eighteen. Birthdays aren't that special because we have a lot of them around here. Tatianna is strangely making a big deal about it. Recently, there have been a lot of sneaking around and little whispers in this big house, and I don't know anything about it. One would guess they are planning a surprise party; but there is already one planned. One thing that isn't a surprise is Tatianna had another baby. A little boy named Mihai (me-hi).
I woke up to confirmation calls from my family saying they could make it to my party. I want it to be strictly family this year. So far everyone is coming including my nephew Kain and his fiance Kira.
As I walked out of my room a strange feeling overcame me. A feeling of emptiness. I am fifty-one and have no children to call my own. I should at least have twelve by now.... at least I had planned to. It is against family rules for me to have children when I am living with my sister. My one and only love had grown old and died without me. The only love I have now is my sister.

                                                    .                    .                    .

Evening time is present time, that's all the kids talk about. Presents presents presents. I expected a few paintings or a new car. I was taken back when Tatianna's husband Guapo blindfolded me.
"Is this necessary?" I asked as he guided me through the house, "please don't walk me into a wall".
"Oh hush!" He playfully hissed at me.
I walked until I felt mush between my toes, heat on my back, and the sound of butterfly wings. "Is he crazy?! I cant be outside!" I thought it my head. He is a vampire too, and he was still behind me, so the crazy thoughts left my head.
"Happy Birthday from the kids and I" he said as he uncovered my eyes.

I was taken back; there was a indoor garden. The wall facing outside was all windows, so I could have the feeling of being outside in the daytime without the fear of becoming ash.
The garden was full of perfect plants and trees. There was a gorgeous lion fountain in the middle of this Eden. Flying around were beautiful butterflies, my favorite of all bugs. Placed alongside are benches so I could read in my peaceful garden. By far; this is the best gift.
"This is amazing!" I shouted as I gave him a hug.
"It gets better, put the blindfold on."
I pulled the blindfold over my eyes and gave him my arm so he could guide me. I was really happy about my gift. It was a major surprise.
I walked in and Gaupo uncovered my eyes then walked away. Standing in front of me was Tatianna. She was holding baby Mihai and she shot a smile at me. I was confused. "You have such a beautiful son." I said trying to break the ice. "YOU have such a beautiful son." she elaborated. I raised an eyebrow at her. Now I was very confused. She walked over to me and put Mihai in my arms. "I know you have always wanted one" She spoke softly. This felt like a dream, this couldn't be happening.  I stared at Tatianna just waiting to wake up. "According to father it is okay if you adopt one of my babies. Happy Birthday."
I never woke up from that dream. I finally had a child to call my own.
